Food and Beverage Floor Coatings

Floor coating work planned around cleaning, traffic, drainage and operating requirements.

Floor coatings for food and beverage working areas

Food and beverage spaces have specific cleaning, traffic and operating demands. Western Canada Coatings reviews these conditions, the existing floor and your project specifications before proposing preparation and coating work.

Tell us whether the area is wet or dry, what is produced or handled there, and how the floor is cleaned. A preparation room, washdown area and dry storage space can have different requirements.

Cleaning and temperature exposure

Share the cleaning products, concentrations and methods used on site, along with expected water temperatures and temperature changes.

The proposed system needs to be selected for those conditions. Product documentation and any facility specifications should guide the decision; general epoxy claims do not establish suitability for a food-production area.

Drains, coves and transitions

Include drainage, floor-to-wall junctions, joints and transitions in the project review. Cove details, falls and any waterproofing requirements should be defined explicitly in the scope.

Photos and existing drawings can help identify these details before a site assessment. Do not assume that a coating alone changes drainage or addresses movement in the substrate.

Shutdown and access

Confirm when the area can be cleared, how adjacent operations will be separated and when cleaning and production must resume. The installation window and return-to-service requirements should be agreed before scheduling.

Texture and ongoing care

Balance surface texture with the cleaning routine and expected wet conditions. Review care instructions, spill response and inspection needs for the selected finish. The floor remains part of the facility’s wider operating and hygiene procedures.

Share your project requirements

Send the project city, approximate area, photos, operating conditions and available shutdown window. Include any written specifications or inspection requirements.
